The NLI Signing Day period began November 8, 2017 and will end on November 15, 2017. FMSD Athletics would like to recognize our student-athletes who have signed to compete at the collegiate level. Fort Mill High School

Lauren Collie, Mercer University – Softball

• Lauren has started on the Yellow Jackets softball team since she was in seventh grade. She was a 5 time varsity letter, three time All-Region, three time All-State, one time defensive Most Valuable Player, three time offensive Most Valuable Player, and one time team Most Valuable Player. Her freshman year the softball team won district and made it to the Upper state finals. In the last 82 games played (9th, 10th, and 11th grade), Lauren batted .448, had 10 HRs, 68 RBIs, 12 stolen bases, and 116 hits.

Brooke Farley, Queens University – Volleyball

• Brooke has lettered on the varsity team all four years at Fort Mill High School.  She was the team captain and team MVP both her Junior and Senior years.  Brooke is a two time All State player in 2016 and 2017.   She was also named to the All Region team and The Herald First Team All Area in 2015, 2016 and 2017.  Brooke has led the region in assists, aces and attack percentage.  She finished her career at Fort Mill with 2,463 assists, 264 aces, 476 kills and 756 digs.  Brooke plans to study Biology and pursue a career in the medical field. 

Ben Fenwick, University of South Carolina – Men’s Swimming

• Ben swam varsity for five years at Fort Mill High School, rounding out his senior year as a Team Captain. He is a five- time varsity letter, four time All-Region and four time All-State. This year he broke the state record in the 200-yard freestyle and holds five school records. He has seven gold, one silver, and two bronze state medals. Others awards include: 2013 Outstanding Middle School Swimmer, 2015 Player of the Month, 2016 CN2 Athlete of the Week and 2015-2017 MVP.  In addition, Ben has been swimming with SwimMAC Carolina for the past ten years. He is a Jr. National qualifier and soon to be three time Scholastic All-American pending 2018 grades.  

Marisa McDermott, Pensacola State College – Softball

• Marisa has played softball at Fort Mill High since moving from Solebury, PA in the fall of 2015.  She is a two time All Region and All State player.  Marissa has played softball since she was five years old and has played in some of the top travel organizations on the east coast.  These included Newtown Rock in PA, Jersey Intensity in NJ, Virginia Legends in VA, and Carolina Elite in NC.

Samantha Palmer, Clemson University – Women’s Rowing

• Sam is a four year varsity rower for the Charlotte Youth Rowing crew team. The team competes in regattas throughout the Southeast region of FL, GA, TN, SC, NC, and VA. She is Team Captain for 2017-18 and the top female open weight rower on her team. Over the years, Sam has earned gold, silver, and bronze medals in many different events, which qualified her each year for Southeast Regionals. Her most notable races have been bowing her boat to 5th place finishes at the 2015 & 2016 SE Regionals and improving with a 4th place finish at Regionals in 2017. In 2017 she also stroked the women's eight person boat to a gold medal at the NC State Championship.

Tyler Patterson, University of Charleston (WV) – Men’s Golf

• Tyler is a three time varsity letterman for the Yellow Jackets.  He first broke 80 in a tournament round his freshman year in the Bengal Invitational. The 2017 golf season was definitely one to remember. He recorded three second place finishes, broke par in two competitive rounds and finished top 25 this summer in the SCGA Junior Championship. Preparation has already started for the 2018 season and he looks forward to having another memorable season. 

Bella Roy, Winthrop University – Softball

• Bella started her softball career at FMHS in the 7th grade.  She has been a part of the Varsity Program for six years.  By her freshman year, she surpassed the FMHS softball strikeout record and is currently on pace for over 1300 career strikeouts.  Bella has led the state for the most strikeouts for the past 3 seasons.   In 2017, MaxPreps recognized Bella as one of the Top 15 Nationally Ranked Pitchers.   As a 9th grader, Bella verbally committed to Winthrop University.  Bella has been named -2016 MaxPreps Sophomore All-American Team, 2016 Region 3 4A Player of the Year, April 2016 FMHS Athlete of the Month, two time 4A All State, two time Varsity MVP, 2015 Azalea Invitational All-Tournament Team and 2014 All Region.  Bella is excited to complete her senior year and enter her next chapter as a Pitcher at Winthrop University.
